The Baker Heights family is made up of many diverse people from many backgrounds and walks of life, yet, we all claim unity and oneness in our common bond which is the salvation that comes though obedience to the Gospel of Jesus Christ the son of the living God.
It is how we are able to obtain and maintain the joy and fulfillment of a relationship with Christ and through His church that we want to share with our community and every person who desires to obey His teachings as proclaimed in the Holy Word of the Bible. We hope you will experience Baker Heights as a place where you will be accepted and challenged to grow in Christ, where our worship services are uplifting and the lessons are Bible centered and practical, always recognizing who the “audience” really is and who must receive all glory and praise.
As a local congregation of the Church of Christ, we are committed to restoring the purity, passion, and simplicity of the New Testament church. We believe the Bible is inspired by God and is therefore our only authority in all matters of practicing our faith and lifestyles.
Our worship services are simply according to New Testament teachings and consist of singing (a cappella), praying, preaching, giving from the heart and most importantly, participating in the Lord’s Supper as a memorial feast of love for Christ and each other.
We believe one is saved by God’s amazing grace. We respond to that grace in heartfelt faith doing our utmost to obey and practice the commandments and teachings of the New Testament. We openly confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. We baptize believers by complete immersion in water in order to identify ourselves with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ in full obedience to the message and command of Christ and His Gospel. Having obeyed through baptism, we receive the promises of forgiveness of sin and the gift of the Holy Spirit, and God adds us to the one church belonging to Christ – His Kingdom on earth. So long as we remain faithful to Christ and His Church, we stay in the grace of God.
